Comment from the Contest Director: Sept. 19th
Yes, the launch will take place. We just won't fly High Power models if
there is no waiver. We still have a month before the event, so FAA waivers
may be available by then, we will have to wait and see. The waiver doesn't
effect the contest part of the event. There will be lots of Model Rocket
Flights!

Steel City Smoke Trial 1

Events:
1/2A PD - 1/2A SD (MR) - A PAY - C RG - E FW

Awards:
Trophies for 1st place in each event (Divisions A, B, C, and Team), To be presented at the field on Sunday at approximately 3:30 P.M.

Competition Range:
Will be open Saturday from 9 AM to 5 P.M., and Sunday 9 AM to 2 P.M. Contest events can be flown either day, except for A Payload Altitude which will be the only event flown on Saturday between 9 AM and 11 AM, with re-flights flown Saturday starting at 3 P.M. (time allotment to be determined by the number of re-flights needed). Duration events will begin at 11 AM and may be flown during the re-flight period for A Payload. Contestants may use their own payloads, however the will need to be measured and weighed at safety check for correct length and weight. Payloads will also be available (Dimensions- 18mm dia. x 70mm long, 28g).

C Div. $15

No additional charges to fly on the sport range.

5000 ft. AGL

Range:
Will be open on Saturday from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M., and Sunday from 9 A.M. to 3 P.M.

Motors:
Tripoli or NAR certified motor up through I without advanced application, J motors require advance application/ approval, subject to launch day flying conditions.

Note:
Due to the launch site's proximity to an interstate, the RSO will reserve the right to lower the permitted motor range.

Fees:
$12 for both days, or $8 for single day flying (rates are for flyer or family)

Please Note!

PennDot is in the process of renumbering the exits along Interstate 70. The launch site use to be Exit 13 and it is now Exit 35.
The launch site is located off Exit 35 (Rt. 481, Monongahela/Centerville) of Interstate 70. From Exit 35 off ramp, follow Rt. 481 south for less than 0.2 miles to intersection with Grange Road. Turn right, the access road to the flying field is about 0.8 miles west on Grange Road, just past Gavco Construction and next to Wheatly Road. Signs will be posted on the approach roads and at the access road entrance Friday through Sunday.
